The last 10 years have been huge for the team at Mayones, from their humble beginnings, Mayones have firmly established themselves as THE authority on modern, progressive guitars. 

Recently, Mayones have been celebrating their 40th Anniversary, a significant milestone that they have chosen to honour with an incredible selection of anniversary builds!

We enjoy a really close relationship with Mayones, and have been really fortunate to get our hands on a selection of these super limited run instruments, and they do not disappoint!

For most players, the first Mayones that they encountered was probably a Regius, the flagship model and a longtime favourite in the roster, the Regius is the perfect fusion of slick design, impeccable visuals and other-worldly tone. This custom colour 40th Anniversary Edition is absolutely stacked, a quick glance at the specs reveals some of the finest tonewoods and timbers that you could hope to lay your hands on. A 5A Quilt Maple top, Sassafras body, a Wenge/Mahogany/Purpleheart/Maple neck, and if that wasn’t enough, there’s the Mastergrade Snakewood fingerboard, find me a more illustrious collection of luxury timber in one place, I’m pretty sure you can’t!

 

If you’re looking for the pinnacle of aggressive, modern metal guitar vibes, this is the one, this is it! According to Greek legend, the Hydra possessed many heads, and for every head lost in battle, another 2 would grow back! Thankfully that isn’t the case here, in fact, the Mayones Hydra is one of the most prominent headless guitars on the market! This 7 string is an absolute monster, the Khaya body features a 1-piece Mastergrade Maple burl top and is finished in another custom colour. The colour is amazing and it responds differently under different lighting, it’s incredible and a great feature. With a top this majestic, the neck needs to match right? Correct, and Mayones deliver. The Wenge/Purpleheart neck is topped with a 4A Pale Moon Ebony fingerboard. Pale Moon Ebony is one of the most visually striking woods out there, instantly recognisable and highly sought after, this Hydra is packing some serious timber spec!

Have we saved the best for last? Well, you let us know, but it’s definitely a close call! This Regius 7 is maybe the most visually captivating guitar I’ve ever seen. Not only does this guitar feature a Swamp Ash body and a 4A Eye Poplar top, but it has been stabilised with epoxy resin, the result is breathtaking. The colouring choice perfectly offsets the intricate design and the matching headstock locks in the look. Again, the neck brings even more fire to the equation with a Maple/Wenge/Maple neck with a 5A Snakewood board. You just don’t get wood combinations of this level on regular production run guitars, this is the definition of boutique!

I think we can all agree that this trio of celebratory designs are just on another level. A great tribute to the successes of the last 40 years of Mayones, we already can’t wait to see what the next 40 brings!
