It was during this creative explosion that James Tyler began crafting his renowned guitars. Tyler Guitars emerged from the same vibrant scene that produced legends like Dann Huff, Dean Parks and Michael Landau.
James Tyler’s pioneering work quickly captured the attention of top studio musicians. His shop in North Hollywood became a well-kept secret among elite players, offering a unique blend of craftsmanship and an enigmatic charm—an “Either You Know Or You Don’t” mystique that only added to its appeal.

Why not start by honouring the legacy of James Tyler and his groundbreaking early guitar modifications with the Dann Huff Original Classic (DHOC)? This guitar is a true throwback, designed for those seeking to capture the essence of the 1980s Tyler sound. As a faithful recreation of Dann Huff’s modded 1964 Strat, the DHOC features unique specs and components that will be exclusive to this model.
Crafted with the romance of both sound and aesthetics in mind, the DHOC includes Seymour Duncan pickups, a Demeter preamp with mid-boost, and series/ parallel switches—exactly as they appeared on Dann’s original guitar. With the JB humbucker’s 50mm spacing, neck/middle Hot Stacks, and a distinct control layout, this model is a tribute to its predecessor. While it comes with a Floyd Rose bridge as standard, you can opt for a Wilkinson VS100. This guitar is designed for players who want the iconic Tyler tone that defined much of the 1980s music scene.

The Studio Elite HD is crafted with a solid Alder body (with options for Mamywo, Swamp Ash or Mahogany), a sleek Quartersawn Maple neck, and a choice of fretboards, making it highly customisable. Equipped with versatile Tyler single-coils and a humbucker, along with a mid-boost preamp, it delivers powerful tones and effortless playability.
