A true virtuoso, a genius and a pioneer, his blistering technique and flamboyant approach to the guitar took the instrument into a whole new dimension, inspiring legions of fans and a following of die hard disciples. The entire guitar world mourned his passing, his importance and influence as defining as that of Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King and Chet Atkins, a true guitar hero.

Think back to the front cover of Van Halen’s debut album, top left, Eddie stands there armed with a black and white striped Strat style guitar, he looks a total badass, but little did we know what we’d unleash as soon as we hit play! 2 tracks in and the game had changed forever, Eruption, a furious minute and a half of intricate tapping, monstrous dive bombs and absolute guitar mastery. 

The Striped Series ‘78 Eruption offers a modern take on that timeless guitar. Featuring a Basswood body, with the iconic white and black striped paint job, the ‘78 boasts a tasteful worn-in relic look, it’s subtle but just right for this instrument, a great touch. Super resonant and perfectly balanced, it’s the perfect platform for ripping up and down the board.

The graphite reinforced quartersawn Maple neck boasts a hand rubbed oil back, a 12"-16"compound radius, maple fingerboard, 22 jumbo frets and a 25.5" scale length. Smooth underhand and with great access right up the neck, the ‘78 is a turbocharged riff machine.

In true EVH fashion, the Striped Series ‘78 is a real mutt under the hood. A single EVH Wolfgang humbucking bridge pickup delivers all the tone you need, slick but meaty, the Wolfgang is all you need to deliver that true Eruption tone! With a singular volume control, featuring a super useful treble bleed circuit, it really doesn’t get much more simple than that! 

A sturdy and dependable vintage Strat tremolo and EVH Gotoh tuners work in tandem for precise tuning even with extreme changes in pitch, you won’t be tuning up every 5 seconds here, you can crank that trem to your heart's content!
