Single Channel - All-Valve - Multi-Watt - Pedal-Friendly

In the late 1960s, Randall Smith, a Bay Area amp repairman, was inspired by 50s Tweed circuits to craft his own amplifiers, drawn to their organic voice and smooth transition from clean to clip. His inaugural venture into boutique guitar amplification, building upon this inspiration, birthed this iconic Boogie amp design.

Description

Ladies and gentlemen, we are extremely excited to announce the re-introduction of Mesa Boogie amplifiers into the United Kingdom! Originally founded back in 1971, Mesa Boogie quickly established themselves as a real force to be reckoned with in the tube amp game. Under the careful guidance of legendary amp builder Randall Smith, Mesa Boogie would go on to drastically alter the world of music and quickly became the original "boutique" amplifier brand. When players like Carlos Santana, James Hetfield, John Petrucci and Dave Grohl choose your amps, you know you must be doing something right! Back in 2021, our friends over at Gibson acquired the Mesa Boogie brand and promised to take their iconic designs to new heights. Headed up by Master Designer Randall Smith, this new era of Mesa Boogie promises incredible tone and unprecedented reliability.

The California Tweed 2:20 boasts a robust power configuration, with 2x6V6 Power Tubes and a preamp featuring 5x12AX7 and 1x12AT7 preamp tubes. It introduces Mesa's patented Incremental Multi-Watt Power Amp, incorporating Duo-Class and Dyna-Watt technologies, offering three power levels, two operating classes, and three wiring options via a single 3-Way Rotary Switch. Users can select from the following power options: 20 Watts - 2x6V6 Class A/B Pentode - Fixed Bias, 10 Watts - 2x6V6 Class A/B Triode - Fixed Bias, and 1 Watt - 1x6V6 Pentode, Single-Ended Class A - Cathode Bias. Both Fixed Bias (20 and 10-Watt Modes) and Cathode Bias (1-Watt Mode) ensure consistent, maintenance-free performance.

Equipped with a single channel featuring Normal (clean to overdrive) and Low (clean) Inputs, the California Tweed 2:20 offers comprehensive controls including Gain, Treble, Mid, Bass, Presence, Reverb, and Master Controls, facilitating quick and easy tonal adjustments. The Vintage All-Tube Spring Reverb includes an external reverb switching jack for remote activation.

With the option to run pedals straight into the input or through the included fully buffered, tube-driven series FX loop, this compact 23-pound head provides an ideal platform for pedal users, enhancing vintage tone while ensuring portability. The California Tweed series embodies "Vintage Expanded," delivering unparalleled vintage, low-wattage tone and feel, exemplified by the new California Tweed 2:20 - a fusion of classic nostalgia and modern versatility without compromising the golden California Tone.
