Introducing the Lowden F-50 from the prestigious 50 Series - a masterpiece of craftsmanship and tone, built from the finest materials and perfected by some of the most skilled luthiers in the world. What sets this F-50 apart from any other is that our very own company director handpicked the stunning woods for this guitar directly at Lowden's workshop. This results in a completely unique, visually striking, and sonically unparalleled instrument that you won't find anywhere else.
The 50 Series is often described as Lowden's Custom Shop, and for good reason. Every single 50 Series guitar is made from Master Grade tonewoods, which are meticulously selected for their extraordinary tonal and visual characteristics. In fact, these woods are re-graded several times in Lowden's workshop, and only the rarest and most exceptional pieces make it into a 50 Series instrument. This particular F-50 features Master Grade Walnut back and sides, the personal favourite of George Lowden himself, thanks to its crystal-clear tone and stunning visual figuring. Walnut offers exceptional clarity and definition, making this guitar a perfect fit for a wide range of musical styles.
The Master Grade Red Cedar soundboard adds warmth and richness to the tone, balancing the crispness of the walnut with a smooth, resonant response. Whether you're a flatpicker, fingerstyle player, or blues guitarist, the tonal versatility of the F-50 will inspire your playing. The F model shape, originally designed in 1982 and revamped in 2003, provides a smaller soundbox that offers more projection and midrange response, making it ideal for musicians who want a balanced tone without sacrificing volume or presence.
Visually, this guitar is just as breathtaking as it sounds. The aesthetic appointments on the F-50 are nothing short of exquisite. From the highly figured wood bindings, to the intricate purflings on the top, sides, and back, every detail is meticulously crafted. A seven-piece hand-inlaid back centre seam adds an extra layer of beauty, while the abalone and figured wood rosette and extended maple-bound ebony fingerboard enhance its visual allure. These are more than just cosmetic touches; they speak to the level of artistry and care that goes into every 50 Series guitar.
One of the standout features is the soundbox bevel, a custom option that makes the guitar incredibly comfortable to play for extended periods. Originally introduced on the Pierre Bensusan signature model, this bevel offers ergonomic comfort without compromising the guitar's aesthetic or tonal quality.
Every guitar we sell at Peach Guitars undergoes a comprehensive, full setup performed by one of our full-time, in-house guitar technicians. This isn't just a quick check - our techs meticulously adjust every element of the guitar, from the truss rod to the action, ensuring that every string rings out perfectly. Fresh strings are added if required, and any fine-tuning necessary is completed to make sure your guitar is in pristine condition when it arrives.
