Description

The Ibanez ATZ300, proudly crafted in Japan, marks a significant milestone: Andy Timmons' 25th Anniversary signature model. This guitar is a culmination of years of collaboration between Ibanez and the renowned guitarist, incorporating features carefully chosen to meet his exacting standards for playability, tone, and stability. It's a testament to Ibanez's commitment to quality and innovation, and a fitting tribute to Timmons' enduring influence on the guitar world.

The foundation of the ATZ300's exceptional playability lies in its S-TECH WOOD Roasted Maple neck. This special roasting treatment significantly improves the wood's stability, durability, water resistance, and tolerance to temperature fluctuations. This process results in a neck that is less prone to warping or shifting, ensuring consistent performance in various environments. The oil finish further enhances the neck's feel, providing a smooth, broken-in sensation reminiscent of a well-played vintage instrument.

The Rosewood fretboard contributes to the guitar's balanced tonal character, delivering a solid tone with a focused midrange. Combined with jumbo frets featuring Prestige fret edge treatment, the ATZ300 offers a playing experience that is both comfortable and fast. The jumbo frets provide excellent response, articulation for chords, and clarity for single notes, while the Prestige fret edge treatment ensures effortless transitions across the fretboard.

The African Mahogany body contributes to the guitar's warm and resonant tone, providing a rich mid-low end that adds depth and body to the overall sound. This tonewood complements the neck and fretboard choices perfectly, creating a balanced and versatile sonic foundation suitable for diverse musical styles.

The ATZ300 is equipped with a powerful and versatile pickup configuration from DiMarzio, chosen specifically by Andy Timmons. The neck position features a DiMarzio The Cruiser, which delivers a single-coil-like tone with open, vocal-sounding mids and enhanced bass response - perfect for smooth, melodic lines. The bridge position houses a DiMarzio AT-1, offering excellent warmth and clarity that balances perfectly with the neck pickup, providing a wide range of tonal possibilities from clean to high-gain, accommodating Timmons' dynamic playing.

Tuning stability is paramount, and the ATZ300 features Gotoh Magnum Lock machine heads with H.A.P. (Height Adjustable Post) system. These machine heads are renowned for their reliability and precision. The H.A.P. system allows for individual adjustment of the string posts, ensuring optimal string tension and further enhancing tuning stability, crucial for maintaining tuning during expressive vibrato and bending techniques.

The Wilkinson-Gotoh VSVG tremolo system provides smooth and responsive tremolo action. Its unique elongated baseplate screw holes prevent binding, promoting accurate pitch return. The VSVG's locking bent-steel saddles contribute to a vintage tone and feel, offering the reliability and responsiveness that Timmons demands.

Other premium features include an oil-impregnated bone nut, which enhances tuning stability and provides warm, rich resonance. Stainless steel frets offer excellent corrosion resistance and long-lasting durability. A smooth taper volume filter maintains high frequencies at lower volumes, ensuring a consistent tone across the volume spectrum. Finally, Luminlay side dots provide excellent visibility on dark stages, making it easy to navigate the fretboard in low-light conditions. These details further refine the ATZ300 as a professional-grade instrument.
