Replica of Mark Knopfler's 1980 Red Schecter played on the Sultans of Swing Tour
Most people identify Marks's red guitar as a Fender Stratocaster through the 1980's when in fact it was a Schecter Strat. Mark played various Schecter strats and teles all through the 80's. He owned quite a number of their guitars. This guitar in particular replaced Mark's Fender Strat and was his main guitar from 1980 until 1987. It was used on various tours and albums; the On Location tour (1980-1981), Love over gold tour (1982-1983), Brothers in arms tour (1985), Live Aid (1985) and during the On every street tour (1991-1992).
This guitar is built perfection, as we've already seen with some of the Custom Shop Schecter guitars we've seen in the past. A lot of GREAT guitar builders cut their teeth at Schecter and it's still obvious that they're nurturing even more talent in the workshops. The action is slick and fast without any buzzing or rattling and of course it just nails that tone.
A quick note on Schecter's Custom Shop. Be assured when buying a Schecter USA Custom Shop you're buying into a history steep into high quality, hand made guitars used by some the best guitars players on the planet such as Mark Knopfler, Pete Townsend and Ritchie Blackmore. For years that is all Schecter built. They have employed builders like John Suhr and Tom Anderson and currently have an exceptional staff of luthiers building these fine instruments day in and day out. These guitars are for the muscian who wants exceptional quality for the stage and studio.
