First introduced in 1932, the L-00 has remained the most well-known and popular small-body acoustic model in Gibsons illustrious history. The all-new L-00 Special builds on this rich history, and brings the magic of this iconic model to the masses.
The L-00 Special begins with solid Mahogany back & sides, paired up with a solid Sitka Spruce top. This tonewood pairing has been used for decades and results in a balanced tone thats super sweet and full. The traditional scalloped X-bracing alongside the narrower waist of the L-00 body shape provides a focused and nuanced sound, naturally giving it a leaner and tighter bass response that sits perfectly in the mix. The tone is ideal for fingerstyle playing and blues and works very well for other genres and playing styles as well.
The Utile neck is attached to the body with a compound dovetail joint and is affixed with hot hide glue, which ensures great stability no matter the situation. The neck has a comfortable and fast-playing SlimTaper profile, Rosewood fingerboard, 12 radius, 19 frets, and traditional mother-of-pearl dot inlays.
High-quality Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners ensure excellent tuning stability, theyll never let you down. This guitar is also equipped with an L.R. Baggs Element Bronze active under-saddle piezo pickup and active preamp with an easy-to-access soundhole-mounted volume control, so its stage and studio-ready at a moments notice.
