Solid Sitka Spruce Top, Rosewood Back & Sides - Fuller Bass & Complex Overtones - LR Baggs VTC Pickup
The Gibson J-45 Standard Rosewood Rosewood Burst is a round-shoulder dreadnought acoustic guitar featuring a rosewood back and sides for enhanced bass response and overtone complexity. It retains the Sitka spruce top and hand-scalloped X-bracing of the classic J-45. Other features include a mahogany neck with a SlimTaper profile, an Indian rosewood fingerboard, Grover Rotomatic tuners, and an L.R. Baggs VTC pickup system for amplified performance. It comes with a Gibson hardshell case.

The Gibson J-45, nicknamed "The Workhorse," has been a flagship acoustic guitar since its introduction in 1942. Its round-shoulder dreadnought design has made it a favorite among musicians for decades. This new version of the J-45 Standard features a rosewood back and sides, adding a new dimension to its already renowned sound.
The rosewood body contributes to a richer, fuller bass response compared to traditional mahogany J-45 models. It also enhances the overtone complexity, creating a more nuanced and resonant tone. The top remains high-quality Sitka spruce, known for its clear projection and balanced sound. The traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing further enhances the top's vibration, contributing to the guitar's overall volume and responsiveness.
The guitar’s neck is crafted from mahogany with a comfortable SlimTaper profile. The Indian rosewood fingerboard has a 12-inch radius and 20 standard frets, providing a smooth and playable surface. Mother-of-pearl dot inlays mark the fret positions. The nut is made of TUSQ, a synthetic material known for its consistent density and ability to transfer string vibrations effectively. The scale length is 24.75 inches (628.65 mm).
The J-45 Standard Rosewood features a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint, secured with hot hide glue, a traditional method that contributes to the guitar's resonance and stability. The gold-finished Grover Rotomatic tuning machines ensure accurate and reliable tuning. The reverse belly rosewood bridge and TUSQ saddle further contribute to the guitar's balanced tone and sustain.
For amplified performance, this J-45 comes equipped with an L.R. Baggs VTC under-saddle pickup and preamp system. This system provides a natural and transparent amplified tone, suitable for both stage and studio use. The controls, conveniently located in the soundhole, allow for easy adjustment of volume and tone. The guitar has a 1/4" endpin jack for connecting to an amplifier or PA system.
The guitar is finished with a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, which protects the wood and allows it to breathe and age gracefully. It comes with a Gibson hardshell case for safe storage and transport. The guitar is strung with .012-.053 gauge strings. A tortoise teardrop pickguard complements the guitar's aesthetics. The truss rod is adjustable, allowing for fine-tuning of the neck relief. The guitar also features a 2-ply black bell truss rod cover and TUSQ bridge pins.
