When the SG debuted back in '61 it was considered pretty radical for the time, with its thin body and no nonsense styling, it clearly focussed on raw power and playability. Quickly becoming a fan favourite with players like Pete Townshend, the SG found itself a permanent member of the Gibson roster.
With the classic Mahogany body, finished in a Cherry Red Ultra Light Aged Nitro Lacquer, this SG is the same mega tone machine we all know and love. The attention to detail and craftsmanship ship on show here is incredible, the Murphy Lab do an incredible job capturing the look and feel of a vintage instrument.
The Mahogany neck is topped with a lush Rosewood fingerboard, complete with Trapezoid inlays this is a true vintage inspired masterpiece. Unlike normal Mahogany guitars, the SG is nice and light thanks to its thinline profile and simplistic design. With a 24.75" scale length, 12" radius and 1.687" nut width it's comfortable and super familiar.
With a duo of Gibson Alnico III unpotted Custom Buckers it offers bite and a super responsive, well-rounded tone. Perfect for players looking for the authentic Gibson PAF tone, these pickups offer clarity, definition and punch. Everything you would want from an SG. Equipped with a Maestro Vibrola, you get smooth vibrato and a classic Gibson aesthetic.
Complete with hardcase, this guitar is one for collectors and players alike!
