New within the world of Gibson custom we are super excited to present the "Murphy Lab", an all new division dedicated to the art of innovation who are highly skilled in ageing guitars using the latest and most sophisticated technology and tools. 1959 is considered to be the golden year of Gibson Les Paul production, with less than 650 guitars manufactured, the fabled '59s found favour with the likes of Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Duane Allman and Eric Clapton. It's safe to say the '59 Les paul is one of the most well loved instruments around.
With a Mahogany body, this Les Paul benefits from a AAA figured Maple top for the ultimate tonewood partnership. The figuring on this beauty is incredible. Rich and super resonant it offers premium tone and timeless aesthetics, while the Lemon Burst Nitro finish looks a million dollars and really allows the wood to breathe and the natural tone to sing through. The Murphy Lab do an incredible job of capturing the feel of a vintage instrument.
The solid Mahogany neck is topped with a crisp Rosewood fingerboard with aged cellulose trapezoid inlays and tortoise shell side dots, this guitar looks every bit the real deal. With a 24.75" scale length, Jescar FW45100 medium jumbo frets and a V1 Carmelita .860"/.975" neck profile, it retains that classic Les Paul feel. The ABR-1 historic reissue bridge and aluminium stopbar offer an authentic vintage vibe with accurate intonation whilst the Kluson Deluxe SD90 tuners ensure rock solid tuning.
The defining feature of the Gibson Custom '59 Les Paul is the custom wound Gibson Custombucker Alnico 3 pickups. According to Gibson these are some of the most historically accurate PAF clones on the market, with an ultra-rich harmonic quality; it's as close as you can get to the classic Les Paul tone.
