A few years back Jake teamed up with our good friend Dave Friedman to deliver the Friedman limited edition JEL-100 signature head. This amp was an absolute fire breather and certainly cemented itself as one of the most impactful amps of the last decade. We're super excited to announce that Jake and Dave have once again teamed up and combined their legendary ears and talents to create the new Jake E. Lee 20 Head, a signature amplifier that offers Lee's ultimate tones in a compact 20-watt package!
The Jake E. Lee 20 head is an EL84 powered 2-channel amp with 20-watts of valve goodness! If you're looking for a compact amp with tons of tone then this is for you! In Lee's own words, "this amp puts the two specific tones I use to create my sound in one head: The sweetness and warmth of a classic Plexi and the more aggressive slant of the master volume amps of the '80s - all tweaked to my taste." This amp is aggressive and just wants to be played loud!
With a simple and intuitive control layout you really can plug in and get playing straight away. With universal Treble, Middle and Bass controls you can sculpt this amp to taste and really find your signature tone. The individual Gain and Master Volume controls allow you to truly unlock this amps true potential, this is further helped by the awesome push pull Gain control, Sat switch and Bright switch.
To help bring this amp into the modern day Jake and Dave have included an internal load system with a cab-simulated XLR output. Through months of testing Dave has achieved a direct output you can proudly send to front of house or use in the studio. The JEL-20 also allows you to play "silently," meaning you can safely play the amp WITHOUT having a speaker cabinet connected. The XLR output includes a ground-lift, level, and centre/edge of speaker cone simulation switches.
