Eric Johnson, a renowned figure in the electric guitar community, possessed his 1954 "Virginia" Stratocaster during the creation of groundbreaking albums like Tones and the Platinum Ah Via Musicom. Today, Eric remains an influential force, continuously releasing exceptional music and captivating audiences worldwide. In 2020, Fender Custom Shop and the Fender Corona Production line will reproduce Eric's 1954 Virginia Stratocaster in limited quantities. Featuring a rare rift/quartersawn sassafras body, lacquer finish, custom wiring, and more, the Eric Johnson 1954 Virginia Stratocaster promises to delight both players and collectors with its unique aesthetics and exceptional sound.
Crafted with a two-piece sassafras body, this guitar boasts a distinctive, fine-grained appearance and produces smooth tones with a focused midrange. The lacquer finish, a period-correct detail, allows the wood to breathe while developing a distinct patina over time. Its custom maple neck, with a comfortable "Soft V" shape, delivers clear tones, complemented by a 12"-radius and jumbo frets for effortless soloing.
Equipped with a custom pickup configuration, including a DiMarzio HS-2 stacked humbucking pickup and a pair of Fender 57/62 pickups, this guitar captures Eric Johnson's signature tone while offering versatility. The custom wiring ensures that the middle and neck pickups are out of phase with the bridge pickup, providing access to Johnson's unique "koto" tone in position two.
Vintage-style tuning machines offer solid, stable tuning with an authentic retro look. Each guitar comes with a G&G tweed hardshell case and a Certificate of Authenticity, ensuring its status as a genuine collector's item.
