The Fender Player II Modified Stratocaster is designed for the modern guitarist seeking a blend of classic Stratocaster tone and contemporary playability. This guitar features a Modern "C" neck profile with a 9.5-inch radius fingerboard, available in either rosewood or one-piece maple, and rolled edges for enhanced comfort. The satin urethane finish on the neck's back facilitates smooth and fast playing. The 22 medium jumbo frets contribute to comfortable bending and accurate intonation.
The alder body, a staple of Fender construction, provides a balanced tonal foundation with a pronounced midrange. The guitar is offered in a variety of new finishes. The Player II noiseless pickups are a key upgrade, delivering the classic Stratocaster chime and sparkle while effectively eliminating unwanted noise. These pickups are designed to perform well with high gain settings and maintain a natural sound.
An upgraded electronics package includes a push/pull switch on the second tone control. This switch allows the player to activate the neck pickup in switch positions one and two, expanding the tonal possibilities beyond standard Stratocaster wiring. A treble bleed circuit is also incorporated, preserving high-end frequencies when the volume is reduced.
The 2-point synchronised tremolo system features block steel saddles and a chamfered tremolo block. The block steel saddles enhance intonation, sustain, and tuning stability, while the chamfered tremolo block allows for a wider range of vibrato. Short post locking tuning machines improve tuning stability by providing a sharper break angle over the nut, and they simplify string changes.
A Graph Tech TUSQ nut and a modern string tree are included. The TUSQ nut contributes to tuning stability, particularly during heavy tremolo use, and enhances mid and upper-range harmonics. The modern string tree ensures smooth string travel, preventing hang-ups and maintaining tuning stability.
