The Limited Edition '51 Nocaster Relic, bearing the revered Nocaster lineage, represents a rare gem in the world of guitars. Originating from Fender's historic decision to rename the Telecaster, this model features hand-wound pickups delivering authentic Tele tones, accompanied by reliced aesthetics for vintage appeal. Crafted with a riftsawn maple neck and fingerboard, it offers stability and comfort, complemented by a compound radius fingerboard and Medium Vintage frets. The meticulous Relic ageing process ensures a well-loved feel, making it resonate as though it has been played for years. In essence, the '51 Nocaster Relic embodies the legacy of its lineage with timeless style and unparalleled craftsmanship.
Named after the esteemed Nocaster lineage, the Limited Edition '51 Nocaster Relic boasts a captivating history. Initially dubbed the "Broadcaster," our cherished Telecaster faced a naming conflict with Gretsch's Broadkaster drum set, prompting Fender to hastily remove the headstock decals, leaving only "Fender" behind. Thus, the legend of the Nocaster was born, gracing a mere 475 instruments before the advent of the Telecaster name. Hence, Nocasters hold a rare distinction, rendering the Limited Edition '51 Nocaster Relic a coveted 6-string gem.
Crafted by the skilled hands of Fender's Custom Shop, this limited edition model features hand-wound pickups for authentic Telecaster tones. A '50-'51 Blackguard single-coil pickup resides in the neck position, while a matching pickup graces the bridge. Known for its distinctive "flat pole piece" design, the '50-'51 Blackguard pickup delivers a twangy punch that can peel paint off walls. Both pickups showcase exquisite relicing, marrying aesthetics with sound quality. Moreover, the guitar boasts the original Nocaster wiring scheme, complete with Fender's renowned dark circuit, with a modern Fat 50 wiring harness included for those desiring contemporary switching options.
Upon picking up a guitar, one seeks an instant connection. The maple neck and fingerboard, carved in Fender's 1950 Blackguard profile from a single piece of riftsawn maple, offer unparalleled comfort. Riftsawn construction ensures exceptional stability under string tension, with grain orientation perpendicular to the fretboard enhancing resilience. Meanwhile, the 7.25- to 9.50-inch compound radius fingerboard and 21 Medium Vintage frets facilitate effortless playability.
The Relic ageing process, meticulously executed by the Custom Shop's expert luthiers, replicates the wear and tear accumulated over decades of performance. As fingers glide along the neck, the sensation of raw wood provides a comfort akin to well-worn trainers, imparting an instant familiarity. From the first strum, the Limited Edition '51 Nocaster Relic embodies the essence of a seasoned instrument, resonating as though it has been played for years on end.
