The Fender Custom Shop '64 L-Series Stratocaster is a stunning tribute to one of the most iconic guitars ever made, inspired by the legendary L-Series Strats produced from 1962 to 1965. Featuring a lightweight alder body in a beautifully aged 3-Tone Sunburst nitro lacquer Journeyman Relic finish, it resonates with exceptional sustain. The medium tint 5/4 quartersawn maple neck boasts a '63 Strat Style "C" profile, a 9.5" radius, and 21 Narrow Tall frets for supreme comfort. The Fender Stratocaster is probably the most iconic guitar ever produced and the Fender Custom Shop '64 L-Series Stratocaster is a fitting addition to this legendary line. The L-Series strats are based off of stratocasters with "L" serial numbers produced from 1962 to 1965 before Fender was acquired by CBS.
The sort for lightweight Alder body is finished in a classic 3-Tone Sunburst nitro lacquer with a Journeyman Relic. Authentically aged, this finish will wear beautifully with time and develop its own character even further. It also allows the natural resonance of the body to sing and sustain much more effectively compared with other more modern finishes.
The medium tint 5/4 Quartersawn Maple neck has a smooth finish. With a 9.5" radius and 21 Narrow Tall frets, the '64 Custom Shop Stratocaster also features a '63 Strat Style "C" neck shape. Measuring .820" at the 1st fret and 1.000" at the 12th, it's supremely comfortable and well balanced.
With a duo of hand wound Fender Fat '64 Strat pickups and a hand wound '64 Strat pickup in the middle position, it delivers all the sweeping, versatile tones you would expect from a Strat. These pickups are incredibly rare to find on the market, and the fact this beautiful example of a Fender Custom Shop is loaded with them is a real treat.
