The E40OM Thermo-Cure Tone-Tite is a rare acoustic guitar featuring the Tone-Tite neck system, typically found only on the high-end AC models. This system, designed by Dana Bourgeois, mechanically fastens the neck to the body, maximising tonal transfer and resonance. This significantly improves the guitar's efficiency by optimising how string vibrations are transmitted to the soundboard. In addition to its tonal benefits, the Tone-Tite system allows for much faster neck resets compared to traditional dovetail joints. The guitar also features premium materials like a solid AAA thermo-cured Adirondack spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and high-quality hardware.

This exceptional guitar represents a unique confluence of traditional craftsmanship and innovative design, most notably featuring the highly coveted Tone-Tite neck system, a design pioneered by renowned Master Luthier Dana Bourgeois. Typically reserved for the AC5 through AC9 models, its inclusion on the E40OM makes this instrument a truly rare find. This system dramatically enhances tonal transfer, a crucial factor in a guitar's overall efficiency. Efficiency in this context refers to how effectively the strings' vibrations are transmitted to the bridge, and subsequently to the soundboard, creating the rich, resonant tones we associate with high-quality acoustics. In a traditional dovetail neck joint, the neck is glued into a precisely cut pocket in the body. While time-tested, this method can sometimes hinder optimal energy transfer. The Tone-Tite system, however, mechanically fastens the neck to the body, creating a seamless conduit for vibrational energy to flow from the neck to the body, ensuring maximum resonance and sustain. This system is favoured by prestigious luthiers like Collings, Santa Cruz, and Atkin, further attesting to its effectiveness.
Beyond its tonal advantages, the Tone-Tite system offers a significant practical benefit: simplified neck resets. Should a neck reset ever become necessary (due to changes in humidity or string tension over time), the process can be completed in approximately half an hour, a stark contrast to the significantly more time-consuming and complex procedure required for traditional dovetail joints.
The E40OM Thermo-Cure Tone-Tite boasts an impressive array of premium features and materials:
- Neck: Crafted from mahogany with a comfortable Traditional Even "C" profile and a 12" radius ebony fingerboard, the neck provides a smooth and playable feel. 20 Jescar-FW43080 frets offer excellent intonation and durability. A bone nut with a 1 3/4" width contributes to clear and balanced tone.
- Body: The body dimensions are 15" x 4-1/4", providing a balanced and comfortable playing experience. The top is made of solid AAA grade thermo-cured Adirondack spruce, known for its exceptional tonal projection and responsiveness. The back and sides are crafted from solid rosewood, adding warmth, depth, and rich overtones to the guitar's sound. Hand-carved scalloped X bracing further enhances the instrument's resonance and responsiveness.
- Hardware and Appointments: The guitar features an ebony bridge with a snowflake inlay and a bone saddle with 2-5/32" spacing. Classic rosette, Ivoroid/Abalone binding on the top, back, fingerboard, and headstock, an abalone headstock logo and snowflake inlays, and ebony bridge pins with abalone inlay add to its visual appeal. The guitar is finished with a Truetone gloss on both the body and back/sides. Nickel hardware, a tortoise shell pickguard, Gotoh SXB510-N tuners, and D'Addario XS Coated Phosphor Bronze Light (.012 - .053) strings complete the package. A hardshell case is included for safe storage and transport.
