The Cort Cut Craft electro-acoustic guitar is a thoroughly modern instrument that blends innovative acoustic design with traditional craftsmanship and materials. This unique guitar features a multi-scale length, ranging from 25.0 inches on the treble side to 25.5 inches on the bass side. This design is intended to improve playing comfort by aligning with the natural movement of the player's hand across the fretboard.
The guitar's top is constructed from solid European spruce, a tonewood known for its clarity and broad sonic spectrum. This makes it suitable for a range of playing styles, from delicate fingerpicking to more robust strumming. The solid European spruce top contributes to the guitar's rich overtones and transparent tonal character.
The back and sides of the Cut Craft are made from solid Master Grade myrtlewood. This wood is selected for its bright yet smooth and warm tonal properties, with a clear and powerful sound that particularly emphasises the high-midrange frequencies, resulting in excellent articulation. The use of Master Grade myrtlewood also ensures a visually appealing instrument with high-quality figuring.
A notable feature of the Cut Craft is the inclusion of a sound port on the upper side of the body. This strategically placed opening influences the guitar's Helmholtz resonance, enhancing both the dynamics and the treble response of the acoustic tone. Additionally, the sound port allows the player to have a better sense of the guitar's natural sound during performance.
For amplified performance, the Cut Craft is equipped with the L.R. Baggs M80 pickup. This pickup was specifically developed with fingerstyle players in mind, offering exceptional sensitivity that captures the subtle nuances of string vibrations and the guitar's acoustic resonance.
Comfort for the player is further enhanced by the inclusion of a cutaway bevel and a body bevel. These bevels are carefully shaped to provide a comfortable resting point for the picking arm without significantly compromising the acoustic properties of the guitar's body, which can sometimes occur with traditional cutaway designs.
Other features of the Cort Cut Craft include a dovetail neck joint at the 13th fret, hand-scalloped X-bracing, an ebony bridge with bone pins and saddle, and a walnut reinforced mahogany neck with a comfortable C shape. The fingerboard is made of ebony with a 15.75-inch radius and 20 frets. The guitar is finished in a gloss natural finish and comes equipped with Elixir Phosphor Bronze Nanoweb Light strings in a hardshell case.
