The Ampeg Portaflex PF-210HE speaker cabinet is a product designed for bass players seeking a portable yet powerful sound reinforcement solution. Originally conceived over 50 years ago, the Portaflex series has been updated with modern features while retaining its core functionality. This cabinet is built to handle up to 450W of power, making it suitable for a variety of performance and rehearsal settings.
A key feature of the PF-210HE is its high frequency horn, which includes a three-position switch. This switch allows users to adjust the high frequency output to their preference, offering full output, a 6dB reduction, or complete shutoff of the horn. This flexibility enables precise tonal control.
The cabinet is loaded with Eminence speakers, known for their sound quality and durability. The unit includes two 1/4" TS input/output jacks wired in parallel, facilitating daisy-chaining to additional speaker cabinets. This allows for expanded sound projection when needed. The nominal impedance of the cabinet is 8 ohms, and it is designed to be compatible with Ampeg PF-350 and PF-500 amplifiers.
For mobility, the PF-210HE is equipped with four removable casters and a top handle. This design allows for easy transport. The cabinet also features a black diamond pattern Tolex covering, providing a durable and professional aesthetic. The flip-top functionality allows for secure transport of a compatible Portaflex amplifier head within the cabinet itself, offering a compact and integrated setup. Aligned screw holes and clasps ensure a secure stack when used with a Portaflex amplifier.
Practical considerations include the paralleled 1/4" TS input/output jacks, which allow for simple connection and expansion. The high frequency horn level switch provides further control over the tonal output, accommodating different playing styles and environments.
