The Ampeg Heritage 50th Anniversary SVT is a professional-grade, all-valve bass amplifier head that celebrates the 50-year legacy of the iconic Ampeg SVT. The original SVT, launched in 1969, addressed the need for powerful bass amplification in a time when guitar amplifiers dominated stage volume. This new Heritage model integrates circuits from the 1969 "Blue Line" and the mid-1970s Magnavox-era SVTs, providing a versatile tonal palette.
This amplifier is handmade in the U.S.A. using high-quality components, ensuring durability and reliability for professional use. It features period-correct graphics and fonts, maintaining the classic aesthetic of the original SVT. Modern enhancements include an improved XLR DI output, user biasing for valve maintenance, speakOn outputs for secure speaker connections, and spring-loaded side handles for easier transport.
The amplifier uses specially sourced and matched Ampeg Super Valve 6550 valves, contributing to its distinct tone. It is not a reissue but a newly designed amplifier that incorporates the most desired features of previous SVT models.
The Ampeg Heritage 50th Anniversary SVT was developed based on customer feedback, aiming to meet the demands of both amateur and professional bass players. It includes five 12AX7 preamp valves, one 12AX7 and two 12AU7 driver valves, and six 6550 power amp valves. The output power rating is 300W RMS minimum continuous at less than 5% THD into 2 or 4 ohms. The signal-to-noise ratio is 75 dB (20 Hz - 20 kHz), and the maximum gain is 78 dB at 1 kHz.
Tone controls include separate channels for the 1969 and mid-1970s circuits, each with bass, midrange, and treble adjustments. The midrange control offers selectable frequencies at 220 Hz, 450 Hz, 800 Hz, 1.6 kHz, and 3 kHz. Ultra Lo and Ultra Hi switches provide further tonal shaping.
