The AER Compact 60/4 is a professional, compact, and powerful amplifier system designed primarily for acoustic instruments, although it accommodates electric instruments as well. This amplifier offers two independent channels, catering to both instrument and microphone inputs. Channel 1 features a 6.3 mm (1/4") input jack socket, functioning as a high impedance line input stage with pad (high/low attenuation), 9V phantom power, and gain control. Channel 2 provides a combined XLR/6.3 mm (1/4") input jack socket, serving as a high-quality line or balanced microphone input stage with 48V phantom power and gain control.
The amplifier is equipped with a customised 8" twin cone loudspeaker and delivers 60 watts RMS output power, ensuring sufficient dynamic and powerful amplification for various settings, from rehearsal rooms to club stages. The integrated equaliser offers three-band tone controls for channel 1 and two-band tone controls for channel 2, along with a 'colour' filter for mid-cut-treble-boost adjustments.
For effects, the Compact 60/4 includes a digital effect processor with four presets: two reverb options (short and long), delay, and chorus. These effects can be applied to each channel via a PAN control. Connectivity options include headphones, line out, switchable DI-out, an external effect loop via send and return, footswitch, and aux in (internal/external effect on/off). A high-end DI-out is provided for connection to FOH systems.
The amplifier's design prioritises portability, weighing just 7.3 kg, making it easily transportable via public transport and as hand luggage on aeroplanes. All AER amplifiers are delivered with a high-quality padded gigbag for protection during transport. The Compact 60/4 is recommended for a wide range of instruments, including acoustic guitars, vocals, wind instruments, mandolins, ouds, traditional Chinese instruments, mouth harps, cellos, and electric instruments.
AER's design philosophy focusses on singer-songwriters requiring excellent instrument and vocal reproduction in a portable unit. The incorporation of dynamic range control ensures reliability and low distortion, even at high volumes, despite the amplifier's compact size and lightweight design.
