The 3rd Power Dragon 45 Amplifier Head is a high-performance 45-watt electric guitar amplifier developed in collaboration between legendary guitarist Joe Satriani and amp designer Dylana Scott. Combining vintage inspiration from the iconic 1967/1968 Plexi Super Lead 100 with modern, advanced features, this amplifier is designed for guitarists who seek both classic tones and contemporary flexibility. Every Dragon 45 amplifier is hand-wired and point-to-point built by skilled craftsmen, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and exceptional sound quality.
Powered by a duet of Svetlana EL34 output tubes and JJ ECC83S & Sovtek 12AX7LPS preamp tubes, 3rd Power showcase their innovative and advanced amp features whilst keeping that iconic vintage tone. First in line is the "400Hz BUMP" switch that fattens and shapes unwound treble strings. Next, users can choose between Vintage Plexi Mode or High Gain Cascade Mode to tailor the gain structures to preference. Further tailor the amp's characteristics with the dual-mode 3-band EQ that replicates either the JTM or JMP amps. The Ultra-Presence High-Frequency Shelving Filter offers additional control over the treble frequencies, with two selectable corner frequencies to fine-tune the high end to suit your musical style. And if that wasn't enough, the switchable FOCUS mode gives users the option to enhance either vintage tones or mid-forward lead sounds that cut through the mix.
The included footswitch allows users to quickly turn on and off the Preamp Gain Boost to push the amp's front end, either for those aggressive rhythm tones or searing leads.
The Dragon 45 also features the proprietary HybridMASTER volume management system, giving players full control over their sound at any volume level. Unlike traditional power scaling systems, HybridMASTER manages both the DC current and plate voltage in the tube circuitry, ensuring the same rich tone at low volumes as at full power. This feature is especially useful for guitarists who need consistent sound quality in a variety of performance environments, from small venues to large stages.
The Dragon 45 utilises premium components across the board with custom-wound USA-made transformers by Heyboer, Sealed-action Potentiometers by Tokyo Cosmos Electronics, and Mallory and Orange Drop Coupling Capacitors throughout. Hand-wired and built in Nashville, TN, these amps proudly come with a limited lifetime warranty as a testament to their quality.
