New Release | Synergy 6505

04 Apr 2023

I think we’re all aware that we’re right in the middle of a tonal revolution here in the guitar world. And although it’s still perfectly acceptable to lust after high-power valve amps, vintage tweed combos and crave the feeling of pushing some serious air behind you, players these days seem to be leaning heavily into portability and variety, how best can we maximise our tonal output in as compact a rig as possible?

There are a plethora of fantastic digital tools available to help us achieve this, the Helix family, the Kemper range, the Quad Cortex, and a seemingly endless array of fantastic plugins allow us to capture the tones we desire and utilise them in ways that don’t require back-breaking 4x12 cabs or combo’s packed with weighty speakers and magnets.

In this tonal jungle there is one brand that really does stand apart though, bringing variety, portability and most importantly, a no-compromise attitude towards tone and a revolutionary platform to deliver it!

We are of course talking about Synergy and their incredible assortment of module based pre-amps! The old saying, “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”, perfectly captures the essence of Synergy and gives us an insight into the idea behind the magic.

To break it down, Synergy have worked with some of the most in-demand and highly respected amp pioneers around, and together they have redesigned the pre-amp stage of some of their most important amps. These pre-amps have then been placed in a compact, rugged “module” that can be easily and quickly installed into a Synergy housing. The best bit? You can mix and match modules, fancy pairing a Bogner Uberschall with a Soldano SLO, well now you can, and it isn’t going to cost you the earth or require massive cabs! Simply drop in your modules into a SYN housing and you’re ready! With modules from Friedman, Bogner, Diezel, Fryette, Morgan, Soldano, ENGL and Metropoulos all bases are covered!

If that wasn’t enough to entice you to cast your curious eyes over Synergy in a little more detail, this will surely tempt you, the release of the BRAND NEW Synergy 6505 module!

The Peavey 6505 is one of the most highly regarded amps of all-time. You might know it by its previous name, the 5150, the legendary amp designed in collaboration with Eddie Van Halen. When Peavey and EVH parted ways in the early 2000’s, Peavey rebranded the 5150 as the 6505 and continued producing that glorious high-gain overdrive sound that is so instantly recognisable. We had one in the studio recently and we can’t recommend it highly enough, check out our video below to get the low-down and to dive deeper into the Synergy rabbit hole!
