New Release | Epiphone 150th Anniversary models
Epiphone are one of the longest established, and most important, guitar manufacturers around. You might think they are nothing more than an outlet for budget friendly Gibson designs, but you’d be wrong! They have a catalogue of stellar designs all of their own, offering a taste of the quality and artisan skill that inspired Gibson to acquire the brand in 1957.
Epiphone are now celebrating their 150th anniversary, and to celebrate they have put together a special collection of guitars. So let’s take a look!
The Epiphone Sheraton, possibly one of the coolest guitars around, packed to the brim with mojo, vibe and just about every other buzzword you can think of, it’s effortlessly cool and the 150th Anniversary model is no different. The Cherry finish is electric and perfectly offsets the intricate nature of the bound fretboard with block inlays with abalone triangles. Loaded with a Tremotone tailpiece, LockTone bridge and twin Gibson Mini-Humbuckers, this guitar is 100% the real deal!
The Crestwood Custom is a solid body icon, lesser seen these days; it still remains one of the most unique guitars in the Epiphone arsenal. With a double cutaway Mahogany body, this little ripper is finished in the super cool California Coral. Offering great access right up the neck, the Crestwood Custom is perfectly balanced and ready for action. With a 1960’s SlimTaper D shape profile and 22 frets, it’s comfortable and familiar underhand. Loaded with Gibson Mini-Humbuckers and a Tremotone Vibrato, the Epiphone Crestwood Custom is one cool cat!
Much like the Crestwood Custom, the Wilshire is a solid body with some serious attitude. Slick and smooth it lends itself perfectly to precision chord work and delicious lead lines, it’s something of an all-rounder. Available in Pacific Blue the new Wilshire benefits from Gibson Mini-Humbuckers, a LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and tailpiece. It’s class personified, a total stunner that delivers both tonally and visually.
The Zephyr DeLuxe Regent is something pretty special, I mean, just look at it! Originally produced between 1948 and 1957, the Zephyr was one of the worlds finest archtop guitars and was considered the main competition to Gibson’s offering prior to the Gibson takeover. Featuring a layered Maple body, 5-piece Mahogany/Maple neck with a Medium C profile and Epiphone NY Mini-Humbuckers pickups, it’s everybit the tribute to the classic Epiphone builds of the day. Available in Aged Antique Natural, it captures the magic of its vintage counterparts fantastically.
