Martin Custom & Special Editions | DSS Hops And Barley

Solid Sinker Redwood Top, Solid Walnut Back & Sides - Stunning Looks & Tones

This limited edition instrument is sure to become a collector's dream guitar. It pays homage to the special grains made famous for their use in beer making. It is absolutely stunning - both sonically and visually. The level of beauty and attention to detail are amazing, as can be seen in our photographs.  The body shape hints at a round-shouldered dreadnought tone with trademark Martin voicing and that's exactly what you get; it sounds phenomenal.  There's loads of thump and clarity to the the strings - it's louder than guitars in this style often are but still with the lovely compression that comes when strumming hard. It's the coming together of two great sonic signatures to make something unique and special. In terms of fingerpicking it excels: don't read that as your standard 'great for strumming or fingerstyle' line! It really does sound full, pingy and super clear - just as it does when the flatpick is used.  This is an absolute winner - an opportunity to own something like this doesn't come up often.

Description

This guitar is absolutely stunning - both sonically and visually. The level of beauty and attention to detail are amazing, as can be seen in our photographs. The amount of effort that has gone into the inlay work is hard to comprehend. The pickguard even sits flush with the body for a seamless touch of class. The body shape hints at a round-shouldered dreadnought tone with trademark Martin voicing; and that's exactly what you get; it sounds phenomenal. There's loads of thump and clarity to the the strings - it's louder than guitars in this style often are but still with the lovely compression that comes when strumming hard. The guitar is crafted with highly flamed walnut back and sides and the top is made with sinker redwood. The gorgeous aesthetic work complementing it are European flamed maple and pearl inlay binding on the front and a Guatemalan rosewood headplate and pickguard. The headstock, fingerboard, rosette, pickguard, and bridge are adorned with a combination of abalone, mother-of-pearl, and wood inlay, which depict hops and barley in various forms.

This wonderful instrument combines some Authentic build features like a dovetail neck joint, hide glue construction, and a 1931 old-style logo, yet it also includes modern features like Liquidmetal bridge pins and a comfortable high-performance taper neck.

Martin made one-hundred of these stunning and special guitars and it even includes a paper label signed by C. F. Martin IV.
