Crafted to celebrate 30 years of PRS guitars back in 2015, Private Stock Collection Series IX guitars are among the most highly sought after and desirable PRS models ever built. Designed by Paul Reed Smith and his Private Stock team, Collection Series IX featured 15 pairs of matching McCarty Trem models. Very few of these ever made it in to Europe, and the ones that did were probably snapped up pretty swiftly by collectors. To get one on the used market is incredibly rare!
Sporting a pristine Curly Maple top, finished in the incredible Aqua Violet Smoked Burst, this PRS also benefits from a lightweight African Ribbon Mahogany body for a tonewood match made in heaven. Rich, resonant and tonally versatile, this is the epitome of high end performance.
The Curly Maple neck features the PRS Pattern neck-carve. The African Blackwood fingerboard is immaculate and of course no PRS neck would be complete without some stunning inlays, 14 Karat Gold and Mother of Pearl hollow Celtic knots offer the most premium touch. Sitting proudly atop the headstock is a hand written PRS signature and Collection inlay with green select abalone purfling.
Equipped with a Private Stock Gen III tremolo bridge, the McCarty is always perfectly intonated and responsive to your playing, while flawless tuning stability comes courtesy of the Phase III locking tuners.
All these luxury appointments would be irrelevant though if it wasn't equipped with a pickup selection to match. A pair of 58/15 pickups deliver just the punch that this guitar needs, with a whole range of tonal variations, the McCarty is a powerhouse both on stage and in the studio. Traditionally wired, it features a push/pull, coil tapped tone control for even greater tonal versatility.
Housed in a PRS Private Stock hardcase, it's the height of luxury. Although "used", its condition is immaculate, we have struggled to find any real signs of use. John Mayer recently posted a picture of Instagram with one of these beauties sitting next to his signature Super Eagle, whoever gets this guitar will be in good company!
