The Fender Custom Shop do some pretty special things, and with the Custom Shop '51 Heavy Relic Telecaster they hark right back to the early days of Leo Fenders vision.
With the appearance of a vintage guitar this Custom Shop model benefits from all the playability and reliability of a brand new one. A lightweight Ash body is finished in a classic Nocaster Blonde nitrocellulose lacquer, period correct, this finish will wear beautifully with time and develop its own character even further. It also allows the natural resonance of the body to sing and sustain much more effectively compared with other finishes.
The Maple neck is also finished in nitro lacquer for a smooth, authentic, vintage feel. With a 9.50" radius, 21 narrow jumbo frets and a 25.5"scale length, it's a real joy to play.
With the Telecaster design being considered by many to be the original workhorse guitar, the Custom Shop '51 Telecaster needs a pickup pairing that can deliver the classic Tele' twang. With dual hand-wound Nocaster pickups and Fender's highly revered Greasebucket tone circuit, it boasts a versatile and well balanced selection.
The original '51 Telecasters are the stuff of legend, a real collector's piece. The Custom Shop '51, well that's a player's guitar!
